Slow Burn: From Speed to Soul
The ocean never rushed, even when I did. Growing up along the California coast, I was a restless kid in constant motion chasing balls, catching waves, and running toward the next thing before I'd finished the last. Then came fourth grade, when life first told me to slow down and t felt like punishment. Now I understand it was guidance…
The Ocean Never Rushed
Afternoons at Tourmaline or "Old Man's" the Pacific rolled in with the same patient rhythm. Glassy water. Soft light. A longboard gliding slowly across the surface. The ocean taught what I couldn't yet learn: that power doesn't require speed, that depth comes from patience, that the most beautiful movements are the ones that refuse to be rushed.
But I wasn't listening yet. My childhood was a blur of motion from baseball diamonds, competitive fire, and the constant need to prove something to someone, maybe to myself.

Lesson 1: Life's first pause often feels like punishment, but it's guidance pointing toward a truer path.
Fire and Ambition
From the diamond to the deal. Baseball led to an Ivy League education, which led to Wall Street boardrooms and high-rise skylines. I learned to pitch, to close, to win. Stadium lights became ticker tape, became conference room presentations. The adrenaline was the same always chasing, never landing.
The Diamond
Competition, precision, and the relentless pursuit of perfection on the field
The Boardroom
Scaling portfolios, breaking ground, winning bids in the development game
The Pattern
Achievement without alignment becomes noise that drowns out meaning
For years, development meant speed. The faster we moved, the more deals we closed, the less we felt. We were building units, not homes. Projects, not communities. The market rewarded velocity, but something essential was missing. The human element, the soul of what we were creating.

Lesson 2: Achievement without alignment becomes noise. The question isn't how fast you can move, it's whether you're moving toward something that matters.
Crash, Silence, and Rebirth
Then the world stopped. March 2020 brought a silence so loud it couldn't be ignored. Empty streets. Closed bars. A surfboard leaning against the wall, unused. The machine that had been running at full speed for decades suddenly had nowhere to go.
So I went looking. Spain. Medellín. Italy. Lake Tahoe. I packed Fitzy the Brave, my motorhome, my mobile studio, classroom in nature and drove toward stillness. Somewhere between farm roads and lake reflections, between mountain mornings and coastal sunsets, a new model began to form.
Nature became my teacher, not the market. The pines didn't rush their growth. The lake didn't apologize for its depth. The trails didn't compete with each other. Everything moved at its own pace, and everything worked. The lesson was obvious once I was quiet enough to hear it: development that heals instead of extracts. Business that breathes instead of gasps. Creation that serves instead of consumes.

Lesson 3: Stillness reveals what speed hides. In the quiet between ambition and action, we find the clarity to build what actually matters.
Return with Balance
Same city. New rhythm. Walking through East Village again felt different, not because the streets had changed, but because I had. The buildings looked the same, but I saw them differently now. Not as assets or inventory, but as containers for human stories. Not as units in a portfolio, but as homes where children would grow up, where neighbors would gather, where communities would form.
Precision Over Rush
Modular construction allows for careful craftsmanship at scale, building quality without sacrificing speed where it matters
Places for People
Every design choice should answer one question: how does this serve the humans who will live here?
Communities Not Projects
We're building ecosystems where people can thrive, not just structures where they can exist
Wholly Creation isn't about doing less, it's about doing what lasts. We're working with Bridge Housing to develop rent-restricted communities across California, using modular innovation to deliver quality at a human pace. The goal isn't just to add units to the market. It's to create environments where people actually want to live, where affordability doesn't mean compromise, where design serves dignity.
The Future of Housing Is Mindful
Building Differently
The housing crisis demands speed, but not at the expense of substance. Modular construction lets us work faster without cutting corners. Rent restrictions ensure accessibility without sacrificing quality. Community-centered design prioritizes people over profit metrics.
This is the new model: development that moves with intention, construction that considers consequence, investment that measures success in generations, not quarters.
01
Listen First
Understand the community's needs before breaking ground
02
Design with Soul
Create spaces that honor human dignity and natural rhythm
03
Build to Last
Prioritize quality and permanence over short-term gains
04
Serve the Whole
Measure success by community impact, not just unit count

Lesson 4: The future of housing isn't just modular, it's mindful. Technology enables speed, but wisdom determines direction.
Beyond the Market
The real estate industry measures success in exits and IRR, cap rates and absorption schedules. These metrics matter — they're the language of capital, and capital makes projects possible. But they can't be the only language we speak. They can't be the only way we measure whether something is worth building.
Meaning Over Metrics
What legacy are we leaving in the communities where we build? Will residents feel proud to call this home?
People Over Portfolios
Behind every unit is a family, a story, a life that deserves dignity and beauty
Permanence Over Profit
True success is measured in decades, in the stability and strength of what we create
When we slow down enough to ask deeper questions — not just "can we build this?" but "should we build this?" and "how will this serve?" — we create space for more meaningful answers. We design for permanence instead of positioning. We build for people instead of PowerPoints. We invest in community fabric, not just community amenities.
Wholly Creation Vision
From coastline to farmland, from the LA skyline to mountain lakes — California's diversity demands development approaches that honor context and community. Wholly Creation bridges the gap between intentional design and practical delivery, between investor-grade returns and human-centered outcomes.
Strategic Vision
Identifying opportunities where affordable housing can truly serve
Thoughtful Design
Creating spaces that elevate lives without elevating costs
Quality Execution
Delivering on promises through modular precision and partnership
Lasting Impact
Measuring success by the strength of communities we help build
We're scaling across California and the West, working with partners like Bridge Housing to deliver rent-restricted communities that don't compromise on quality or character. This is development with rhythm, not rush. Creation that considers consequence. Housing that serves the whole person, the whole community, the whole future.
Building at a Human Pace
The tide came back in, and so did I. This time it's slower. More focused. Ready to build differently. The ocean was still there, still patient, still teaching the same lesson I'd missed for so many years: power doesn't require force, impact doesn't require speed, and the most meaningful work happens at a human pace.
Wholly Creation is my answer to that lesson. It's how I'm channeling decades of development experience into projects that matter, that last, that serve. It's not about abandoning ambition, it's about aligning ambition with values. Not about doing less, it's about doing what endures.
"Narrow your focus. Expand your impact. Build at a human pace."
